To be on the safer side, I went home with my face hung down in shame. (Like i was completely regretting my low scores ;) ). As soon as my parents saw my half moon face, the "TORNADO" started gathering momentum and i was left to its mercy.
Somewhere in the middle of the "TORNADO" , my dad had a glance through my printed results and exclaimed. "He's got a centum in mathematics and his overall score is 95 % !!!" What started off as a "TORNADO" suddenly became a gentle sea breeze. Suddenly i was their dear son who made them proud !! ( A minute ago i was a monkey or a buffalo) .
My God Why are parents sooooo fickle minded ???!!!
Relieved, I went to my room, switched on my music system and went off to bed. When i awoke, i was greeted with the sweet smell of "Payasam" or "Kheer". It was party time.. It was not until i got the official score report that i was convinced that it was REALLY me who had all that numbers beside the subjects (Some call them as "SCORES" :) ).
After the traditional "Our son made us proud" trips to relatives n friend's homes and giving a couple of tips to the colts who were new to the turbulence of studying 12 th grade (Look who's giving tips !!! - Me) , it was time for college selection.
On the day of the counselling - i sat down, staring at my unsure fate and smiling sheepishly at parents of beautiful gals who were discussing strategies for selection of colleges !! Finally my turn came. I gave my options of colleges. All five were sort of the top 10 colleges in my state. I could feel my heart pounding as i watched the green signal pop up beside my options
5....4............3.............................2....................and ..................................and
...................1 (yipeeeeee !!!)
I got the college and the course of my choice !!!
So the interesting phase of life for everyone was to start in my life too....
